God is Mercy

To wrap up this weeks reading and to bring it home.

God is Mercy...

So what is Mercy -
It is the opposite of eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth,

Mercy is turning the other cheek.

Mercy is not getting what I deserve, but being forgiven despite what I deserve.
What makes mercy possible from a God of Righteousness and Truth...

It's what is remembered on this day - Good Friday.

Martha posts an excellent article on why it is called Good Friday, take a look at it here...
What's so Good about Good Friday?

Despite God knowing all about my sin, about my guilt, about my past, present and future...
God allowed Jesus to be crucified so that the punishment for my sin would be paid.  So that I would not have to bear the cost of my actions, my deeds, my sin.

So what is Mercy?  --- God's providing a way out even at such a great cost.

I can rest knowing that there is nothing I have done, am doing, or will do that will destroy my eternal future nor will it secure it.   --- It all rests in God's hands.

Have a wonderful Easter as we celebrate the Rising of Jesus... and the confirmation that we too will live on with Christ.

    1. Sorry for the late reply, weekend got super busy followed by a busier Monday. I hope your alternate venue served well for celebrating the Risen King.

  2. Oh, Ryan, bless you for sharing my post from today! I am humbled and honored by your kindness.
But like you, I'm much more humbled by what our Lord did for us so many years ago. He certainly secured our eternal future with His act of selflessness, love and sacrifice.
A blessed Easter to you and yours!
