Giants to Overcome

It is Monday, and in my traditional sense... I am moving on to a new chapter.
The title of this weeks chapter from P.D. Tripp's book a SHELTHER in the time OF STORM is "Someday".

The chapter is kicked off with the following verse to consider:
I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Psalm 27:13

Tripp points out that this isn't some wishful thinking that David has... This is a statement of confidence.  This is a statement of assurance.  This is a statement of what will be.

God obviously would have His hands in the mix of this.  After all, God selected David for the task.  David, a shepherd boy, had already seen God's hand move when he faced and took down Goliath.  David knew he could trust in God, and over and over again trust is what David did.

So what about me... what about you?

David's trust of looking upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living was an expectation?
We don't see the day to day life of David, we only see the highlight real.  Some good, some bad, some ugly...  What we don't see completely is the daily grind of David's involvement.  We get glimpses sure, but not at the minute by minute level.

Remember, David was a shepherd boy that God had selected to be king, but David had to have the courage to stand before the giant and ultimately take him down.  The giant had to be overcome before David could proceed with His calling.

We will all encounter a "giant" at some point in our life.  Some may face multiple.

Is there "giant" that is standing in the way of you progressing with your calling?
Simply facing the giant is not enough, that giant must fall!

  1. We sing a song in worship with that phrase "every giant will fall" but the song itself escapes me. I have to believe that God's strength is available to make that happen.

    1. Rend Collective, I had completely forgotten they sing "Every Giant Will Fall"

Thanks for the reminder... My theme song for the week!

  2. Amen, Ryan! We must take those giants that would keep us from following God's will down to the dust. And we can only do that with help from the Lord. Let us lean upon Him with everything we've got.

    1. This is so true, Martha, Only with the help from the Lord will we be able to take those giant's down to dust... Have a great trip this week!
